Lesson 40: God's People Delivered

 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.(Exodus 14:14)


Introduction

The scene opens with God's people on the brink of annihilation. But a sudden and glorious change comes over the earth and heavens Jesus arrives and rescues his people from destruction. What follows next are scenes of wonder and horror as the wicked are also witness to the dazzling glory of Christ's return. On what side of the conflict will you be in the end?

Final Events Prior to Jesus' 2nd coming

Persecution of God’s people lead them to either prison, flight, or hiding from enemies.

 
 
 

At Their Darkest Moment

(John 17:24, Revelation 16:17, GC 636.1)

As the enemies of God descend on his people to destroy them, a dense darkness falls on the earth. A rainbow of protection appears around God's praying people.

Suddenly they hear "Look up!"

The dark clouds part - God's glory shines through

Jesus Appears

Jesus’ divinity is seen with the marks of his humiliation still visible.

 
 
 

Global Earthquake

(Revelation 16:17-18, Daniel 12:2 Revelation 1:7)

A massive earthquake strikes causing global destruction.

Islands disappear, mountains crumble 

Palaces and cities are laid low. Prison walls fall away allowing God's people to go free.

Babylon is destroyed.

 
 
 

The Darkness Breaks

(Isaiah 13:6, Isaiah 2:10-12, 20-21)

Sunlight breaks through the clouds and mysterious voices declare the doom of the wicked.

Demons acknowledge Christ

 
 
 

Jesus Comes!

(Revelation 19:11-16; Psalm 50:3-4; Matthew 26:64)

A small black cloud appears in the east that becomes larger and larger revealing Christ with thousands of His angels.

The Wicked Flee

The wicked run to the rocks and caves to hide from Christ. (Revelation 6:15-17)

 
 
 

Special Resurrection

There will be a special resurrection for those who crucified Jesus so that they will witness of the coming of Christ. (Revelation 1:7)

(Isaiah 25:9)

Herod, the High priest, Roman soldiers, and Pharisees.

 
 
 

The Dead in Christ Rise

(1 Corinthians 15:55; Malachi 4:2)

They rise transformed.

Angels gather up the righteous living and take them up to heaven.

 

The Sea of Glass Mingled with Fire

The 144,000 that came out of the great tribulation singing praises to God. (Revelation 14:1-5; 15:2; 7:10,12;14-17)

 

The Song of Moses and of the Lamb

It is a song of victory and deliverance.

God’s People have gotten victory over sin, death, and the enemy.

(Revelation 15:3)

 
 
 

The Crowning Ceremony

Jesus places crowns on the heads of the Righteous and gives them new names. (Revelation 2:17)

The Righteous play harps and sing praises.

 

Adam and Jesus Are Reunited

(Matthew 25:34)

Heaven is opened to the Redeemed. Adam sees paradise and confirms it is in fact Eden. 

Jesus reinstates Adam and he throws his crown at Jesus feet followed by the Redeemed.

 

What does this have to do with me today?

How will the ministers of the gospel, who have ignored God's law react at the second coming?

What distinct knowledge will God's people have in heaven regarding their salvation?
